On Friday, January 25, 2013 almost 500,000 people gathered in Washington D.C. for the March For Life. 25 people boarded a bus from St. Joseph Church in Kings Park and joined marchers from St. Philip and James Church in St. James in honor and memory of the late Katie Farrell. Katie was young, unmarried & unprepared for motherhood when she became pregnant and despite the urgings by health care professionals to abort her child, Katie chose life.
In March of 2012, Katie’s life was tragically cut short when her son’s father took her life and his own. It was Katie’s plan "to bring (her) son to the march for life in Washington on his second birthday, to show the world the beautiful outcome of not choosing abortion”, and Katie’s mother, brother, sister & friends endured the long bus trip and marched in the cold & snow to fulfill Katie’s last wish.
